The front of the attenuator is a male plug connector style, allowing the attenuators to be plugged directly into receiver equipment or adaptors in patchpanels.The rear is a female socket adaptor allowing a patch cord to be mated into the back of the attenuator. The attenuators are available in SM/MM SC, FC or ST, LC & LC short body, MU with fixed attenuation values from 0dB through to 30dB.
Multimode or singlemode attenuators can be supplied for operation at 850nm, 1300nm, 1240 ~ 1620nm (Dual 1310/1550nm). Singlemode attenuators are also available in SC, FC, ST, LC, LC short body, MU, UPC/APC.

The singlemode attenuators employ polarization insensitive doped fiber to achieve the desired attenuation, whilst the multimode versions employ offset splices.
